5 sessions from Mon 1 Apr 2024 [Show]
Each day a visiting artist will lead art workshops with the children, supported by our creative playworkers. We cover a wide variety of art and crafts with a focus on learning and most of all FUN! With access to a full range of arts facilities and equipment, and use of our extensive grounds, lawns, gardens and woodland.
Our daily activities can be found at the bottom of this page.
The club is for children aged 5-12 years and will run from 9am – 3.30pm
(drop off from 9am-9.30am, pick up 3.30pm sharp)
The club costs £33 per day, this includes the provision of a wide range of art materials, refreshments, and snack.
Children will need to bring their own packed lunch and raincoat/sunscreen.
We hope to get outside into our beautiful grounds to explore as often as possible, so please pack raincoats as well as dressing in suitable clothing and footwear.
The club is for children with a love of art and crafts.
This is a busy and noisy environment with up to 32 children participating daily. Please note that we are not a registered childcare provider, and we do not have additional support beyond our Artists and Creative Playworkers.
We want all our children to get the most from their art club workshops, in a safe and happy environment. If you would like to discuss accessibility, please give us a call.
There are a total of 4 free places available to be shared amongst families in receipt of Universal Credit.
Please select one session per week, per child
These few places are much needed, please be considerate when booking so that other families can also benefit from the sessions.
Monday - Nonsense botany
Inspired by Edward Lear’s Nonsense Botany and the well-known tale of the Owl & the Pussycat. Together we’ll be inventing weird and wonderful plant creations using collage, which will inspire monoprints applied collaboratively onto a length of fabric to create our nonsense garden.
Tuesday - Lanterns
Inspired by Edward Lear’s poem, The Dong with the Luminous Nose this session will involve building and decorating ridiculous creature sculptures. These will be created with light-up features so that they can be used as lanterns.
Wednesday - Sea-faring vessels
This session will be all about sea-faring vessels! Following in the slipstream of The Jumblies and their sailing sieve, we will work in teams using junk resources to create and adorn our own boats. In the afternoon we’ll decorate ‘sails’ for the boats, printing with found objects. Weather permitting, we hope for this session to be outdoors, so dress accordingly!
Thursday - Masks
When all these creatures move, what a wonderful noise there’ll be! Taking critter-inspiration from the Quangle Wangle’s Hat, children will work to create & decorate masks which represent weird and wonderful creatures of their own devising. We’ll be using a range of materials to decorate our masks.
Friday - Fantastical insects Fiesta:
The first part of the session will see us embracing our bug life, creating insects using wire, cardboard & found objects to create flying friends with many legs. In the afternoon we will be hosting a Lear-inspired carnival, with music & a photoshoot of all our wonderful creations.
