5 sessions from Mon 31 Jul 2023 [Show]
Join us for a week immersed in a wide range of explorative art and crafts activities!
WEEK 5> 31 July - 4 Aug
Our artists for the Summer have still to be confirmed, therefore the daily activities have yet to be set, but these will be as exciting, fun and educational as always!
Children will need to bring their own packed lunch (and sunhat/sunscreen/raincoat if needed).
We hope to get outside into our beautiful grounds to explore as often as possible.
The club is for children aged 5-12 years and will run from 9am – 3.30pm
(drop off from 9am-9.30am, pick up 3.30pm sharp)
The club costs £30 per day, this includes the provision of a wide range of art materials, refreshments, and snack.
Please select the days that you wish to book, and for how many, then proceed to fill in your children’s details.
Please note that we are not a registered childcare provider, and we do not have additional support beyond our Artists and Creative Playworkers.
The club is made up of a series of creative art activity workshops. If your child does not enjoy art, or a busy environment, please look to book them into a more suitable workshop. We want all of our children to get the most from their art club workshops, in a safe and happy environment.
FREE PLACES -
There are 4 free places available each day for families with low income, such as those in receipt of Universal Credit. If this applies to you, and would benefit your family, please add your preferred dates to your basket and proceed to fill in the child's details.
We suggest to make use of one or two days per child and limit this to 5 days per child over the 4 weeks, so that other families also have the opportunity to benefit from the sessions. Any additional bookings will be removed.
These few places are much needed, so please be considerate when booking so that these can be shared amongst other children too.
*We reserve the right to enquire which benefit you are in receipt of.
Monday 31 July - Fri 4 Aug - Active Art
Join artist Mim Seddon for a week of bug fun! With art and crafts of all shapes and sizes, games, parade and more.
Monday 31
Explore the gardens at Forgan Arts Centre and discover the rich eco system of insect life filling in a bingo sheet along the way. In the afternoon we shall take inspiration from the lively gardens to create blind drawings and colourful prints of our new buggy friends.
Tuesday 1
We will begin our day with a character workshop exploring the theatricality and movement of insects. In the afternoon we will go into the garden and move around the trees, plants and hills like insects to see the world from a new perspective.
Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3
On Wednesday and Thursday, we will craft costumes and masks based on the insect world utilising papier mâché techniques and reclaimed materials. We will also construct large set pieces based on the gardens around Forgan arts centre such as giant flowers, leaves and fruits. Come along to one or both days for some active art.
Friday 4
On Friday newcomers can learn to make masks and dress up accessories with a variety of materials such as card, feathers, paint, strings, wool, recycled and found objects. People returning from Wednesday and or Thursday can build upon those they have already been working on, or design decorations for the afternoon party.
To round off a busy week of making, we will play host to a garden parade or mini disco (weather dependant!) in the afternoon, where we will decorate the building, don our costumes, make music, play games and show off our favourite bug dance moves!
No tickets are currently available to book.
