Description

Join us for a week immersed in a wide range of explorative art and crafts activities!

WEEK 4> 24-28 July

Our artists for the Summer have still to be confirmed, therefore the daily activities have yet to be set, but these will be as exciting, fun and educational as always!
Children will need to bring their own packed lunch (and sunhat/sunscreen/raincoat if needed).

We hope to get outside into our beautiful grounds to explore as often as possible.
The club is for children aged 5-12 years and will run from 9am – 3.30pm
(drop off from 9am-9.30am, pick up 3.30pm sharp)

The club costs £30 per day, this includes the provision of a wide range of art materials, refreshments, and snack.

Please select the days that you wish to book, and for how many, then proceed to fill in your children’s details.

Please note that we are not a registered childcare provider, and we do not have additional support beyond our Artists and Creative Playworkers.

The club is made up of a series of creative art activity workshops. If your child does not enjoy art, or a busy environment, please look to book them into a more suitable workshop. We want all of our children to get the most from their art club workshops, in a safe and happy environment.

FREE PLACES -
There are 4 free places available each day for families with low income, such as those in receipt of Universal Credit. If this applies to you, and would benefit your family, please add your preferred dates to your basket and proceed to fill in the child's details.
We suggest to make use of one or two days per child and limit this to 5 days per child over the 4 weeks, so that other families also have the opportunity to benefit from the sessions. Any additional bookings will be removed.
These few places are much needed, so please be considerate when booking so that these can be shared amongst other children too.

*We reserve the right to enquire which benefit you are in receipt of.

Monday 24 July –With Graphic designer Tom Painter

Monday - Squiggle adventures!

Starting by reading from a book called ‘Ish’, today we will be drawing fast and loose. We will focus our energy on having fun in the moment of creation. We will learn how to turn accidents into art, how to turn mistakes into masterpieces, and how that everyone is an artist.

Tuesday 25 – Friday 28 with artist and illustrator Lindsey Gardiner

Tuesday – Create your own character.

As a children’s book illustrator and artist, Lindsay will share examples of her own work, showing how characters start from scribbly sketches before evolving to a final creation. Start to explore with your own sketching, looking at expressions and personality using lots of different drawing materials, colour, mark making and games. Even little ones can create their own fun characters.

Wednesday – Playing with Pattern.

Pattern is not just for curtains and wallpaper! Look at the many ways it can be used as backgrounds and details in your drawings. Create new patterns through an exploration of fun techniques and play with scale like Matisse. In the afternoon we delve into the gardens to look for patterns in nature, collecting things to further inspire patterns to be used in their drawings and illustrations.

Thursday – How to make a picture book.

Thinking of our favourite books and why we like them, we will look at the features that appeal to you and begin to make our own. Creating little narratives, making a beginning, middle and end and adding some characters to bring it all to life!

What would your characters get up to in the garden, in the woods or in a wilderness!? Let your character develop over the day through art and play.

Friday – Animal madness!

Based on your favourite animal or even your own pet, go from simply drawing an animal to creating a character with a personality!

Learn to draw them from different angles, and how to use expressive lines to add movement to your drawings. Playing outside, we will explore different areas of the grounds and woodland to imagine what kind of animals would live there and what they would get up to. With drawing boards, we can sketch out some ideas for how these cute little characters might get up to all sorts!
